i luv chrom and robin

best viewed on a phone!

their dynamic of being "best friends (that r in love)" makes me happy. it reminds me of my own relationship (i'm so happy i was able to find one like theirs!)
they help calm me down when my anxiety flares up! they make me happy when i'm sad, when nothing else works for me! like half of the love songs i listen to remind me of them!
all-in-all i love them a lot and i wholeheartedly believe they're one of, if not the best couple(s)/ship(s) that fire emblem has ever produced.

chrom and robin work very well as characters together, whether you ship them romantically or platonically.
the fem robin x chrom support leaves... a lot to be desired, but at least we have the male robin x chrom support! not a day goes by where i'm not angry over the fact that nintendo felt the need to change feMU and chrom's support to some fanservicey bullshit. literally what was the reason LOL
moving on from that... i think that i'll analyze male robin and chrom's support for this lovemail!

C SUPPORT

Robin: Can I ask you something, Chrom?

Chrom: Uh-oh. Should I be nervous?

Robin: When you found me collapsed and without memory, why did you take me in?
(robin can't see why chrom would take someone they had no prior experience with in, and trust them! the answer is that he's a stupid overly trusting bitch but he elaborates on that in the support)

Chrom: Well... Because you were collapsed and without memory?

Robin: That's it? Pity was your reason?

Chrom: Isn't that enough?
(chrom is a compassionate person. if he sees someone down on their feet, he'll help them up- quite literally in robin's case! he doesn't see what the consequences of this could be until robin points them out, showing how he trusts first and questions later.)

Robin: Did you never stop to consider if it was some kind of trap?

Chrom: Heh, that's what I had Frederick for.
(i mean he's right about this- i'm like 90% sure even if he didn't have a knight as dedicated as frederick, though, he'd still be as blindly trusting as he is WITH frederick.)

Robin: But why didn't—

Chrom: Robin, if I see someone hurt or in need. I'm going to help them. That's just who I am, and there's no changing it. Or would you rather I'd left you there, face down in the muck?
(chrom's aware of how trusting anyone he sees in need of help is kind of endangering, especially for a future-exalt. he doesn't care. he isn't trying to change his compassionateness.)

Robin: No, of course not. I'm thankful for what you did, I truly am. But it scares me all the same. Chivalry and longevity don't often go hand in hand.

Chrom: Ha! I wish I had a gold coin for every time I got this lecture.
(HES BEEN LECTURED ABOUT THIS BEFORE HES BEEN LIKE THIS EVEN BEFORE ROBIN CAME INTO PLAY)

Robin: I can only offer advice, I'm afraid. You really should be more careful in the future.

Chrom: I'm sorry, but no. If it happened again today, I'd do the same exact thing...
(he isnt trying to change! we stan)

Robin: But—

Chrom: Peace, Robin. I have heard your counsel, and I know you mean well. But as I said, this is who I am. I can't change that, nor would I want to.
(he knows people mean well when they talk about how blindly trusting he is! but he doesn't want to change.)

Robin: I... I understand. If that is your decision, then so be it. Just do try and be careful, Chrom. For my peace of mind, if not your own?

Chrom: I will. I promise.
(robin tells chrom to try to be more careful, for his own sake! if chrom doesn't care about what happens to him, i'm sure he cares too much about what happens to others. robin seems to know this and takes advantage of it.)

this support shows that robin's grateful that chrom found him, but concerned! chrom knows that robin's worries are completely valid but he wouldn't stop doing what he does until it killed him LOL. he does agree to be careful, though- not for his sake but for the sake of his friend, robin. imagine being as perfect as chrom couldnt be me

okay onto their B support! keep in mind that to reach supports, they have to battle side-by-side for a while. so time passes between all of them.

Robin: Chrom! Are you all right?!
Chrom: Er, yes, I'm fine. ...What's got you so excited?
Robin: I heard you were attacked behind the mess tent!
(robin sounds so concerned lmao pining bitch)
Chrom: Pfft! Some local thug approached with a dagger, but he bolted when I drew iron. It was dark... The poor fellow probably thought he was mugging a merchant! Ha!
Robin: You challenged him alone?!
Chrom: Well, I wouldn't say "challenged," exactly. More like "shooed away." Can't very well just leave that sort around the camp now, can we?
Robin: By the gods, Chrom! Please, I beg you, do not take any more of these foolish risks.
Chrom: Hah! You do realize we're at war, right? Just walking onto the battlefield is a risk.
(i think chrom realizes that he's putting his life on the line every day, so doing it more than he needs to- ie trusting random people, even enemy army deserters, and subduing criminals himself rlly shows how he genuinely wants to help people and he doesn't just want to fulfill his role of prince of ylisse!)
Robin: I don't fear anyone besting you head-on; I fear you being stabbed in the back! Many of our enemies do not share your sense of honor.
Chrom: Do you really think some random cutpurse would get the better of me?
Robin: Shall I list every hero who said that before being poisoned, sniped, or snared?
(snarky lil dude i love robin)
Chrom: Well, I don't think a list is necess—
Robin: You're our COMMANDER, Chrom... Battlefield victories mean nothing if an army loses its leader. You are no longer simply your own man. You stand for all of us.
(robin brings up a good point here! chrom's gotta be the hero for his entire army... robin knows this and wants to remind him whenever he steps out of line.)
Chrom: Enough... You have a point. You're right...as you always are. I will be more careful. Thank you, Robin.

their b support brings to light the fact that chrom seems to act first, ask questions later- the example of this being his willingness to fight a thief in the name of justice. this is like a double edged sword, tbh. i think being able to do what you think is right with no hesitation is a good quality to have for a leader, but it also puts you in so much unnecessary danger. robin seems to be aware of this and he's scared for chrom! he doesn't want him to be hurt doing what he does best. chrom knows this! but like he said in their c support... he is jsut a littel creacher. thast it . he canot change thsi.

ok A support time

Robin: I hear you've been going on patrol with the couple of the men.
Chrom: Only to patrol the immediate area.
Robin: ...You know what I'm going to say, don't you?
Chrom: That it's too risky, and I need to be more careful. Yes, thank you, mother.
(lmao this is a routine for them now)
Robin: But if you know this, then why—
Chrom: Look. I understand enemies could be lying in wait to try and kill me... But there could also be others who need my help! There's a war going on, and people are suffering. I can't ignore them. I won't.
(god hes so neat)
Robin: So why not send your men to search for these hapless innocents?!
Chrom: Because.
Robin: Becauuuse...?
Chrom: Because...of you. If I hadn't been there—if Frederick alone had found you—would we have ever met?
Robin: ...Probably not.
(i think this part of their support is super important! chrom uses robin as an example of a good thing that came out of his desire to help people. a good thing. now listen if that isnt romantic idk what is)
Chrom: You see? And it's not just you, Robin. It's everyone like you. I know going out there exposes me to danger, and I haven't always been careful. But it's a risk I'm willing to take in order to connect with the people. To forge bonds.
(chrom wants to find more people like robin! he wants to help as many people, personally, as he can.)
Robin: Bonds? Between who?
Chrom: You and me. Me and the others. The villagers we've met, the world we've seen... Such bonds are the true strength of this army. Without them, we're lost. Others may disagree, but that's one benefit of leadership: I make the final call.
(chrom mentions his bond with robin as being separate from his bond with the other shepherds. he sees it as something stronger than normal. i just think that's neat.)
Robin: It's hard to argue when you use me as your example. But at least let me come with you.
Chrom: So you can watch my back?
Robin: That's part of it, yes. But I also want to be there when you find the next me, face down in the field. I want to help you make this army stronger. I want to help you forge new bonds.
(robin is concerned about chrom still, of course! but if he can't stop them, he wants to try to keep chrom safe. he wants to help him help people.)

...in summary, chrom and robin threw the first brick at stonewall!

i think that their support is among the, if not the best support in the game. it is weird how a character that was originally supposed to be a self-insert has such a personality, but i'm not complaining!
they work super well together. i like imagining them taking walks together, all alone! to patrol the area lol.

also i haven't begun to touch on the whole "robin sacrifices himself for grima" thing. it rlly opens up a lot of opportunities- like, what if robin never came back? what would chrom do then?
i can barely imagine them without each other.
